Robert
Fox is the founder of The TOC
Center, Inc. Beginning in 1981 he has collaborated with Eli Goldratt and
hundreds of companies and consultants around the world to develop the
Theory of Constraints methodology. During this time he has worked with
dozens of Fortune 500, and many smaller firms to help them to "expose" the
capacity hidden in their systems using TOC.
In 1993 he founded The TOC Center to focus
his efforts on assisting manufacturing and project-oriented firms
struggling to keep up with demand in growing markets. "Such companies face
an unusual challenge. The inability to keep pace in a growing market leads
many companies to scale back their customer base to maintain high service
levels to their best clients. But this also opens the door to the
competition and when the market turns downward (as it inevitably will)
they are left with stiffer competition, and a smaller client base. This
can be devastating to companies, who all the while may be enjoying record
profits, not knowing what lies ahead. I have spent almost 40 years
studying and applying the great improvement methodologies we have seen in
industry, and only TOC provides a fast, focused way to increase output. I
have seen it work in so many companies, across so many industries, but it
never ceases to amaze how quickly results come without the usual
cost and risk of adding labor or capital. If ever there was a thing such
as alchemy, this is it."
Mr. Fox has authored
numerous articles on management practices and co-authored The Race and
The Theory of Constraints Journal with Eli Goldratt. Weber State
University recently honored him by creating the "Robert Fox Race to Excel"
award, presented annually to organizations who demonstrate exceptional
results through extraordinary operational excellence. He holds a B.S. from
the University of Notre Dame and a masters from Carnegie Mellon
University.
